A tisane, herbal tea or ptisan refers to infusions of fruit or herbs such as rosehip or peppermint tea that is not made with tea leaves from the tea bush. Herbal teas are usually made by pouring boiling water over plant parts such as leaves, seeds and roots and letting the mixture steep for a few minutes. The tea is then strained and sweetened if desired, before serving. Herbal tea bags can be purchased with tisane or herbal infusions.
